Psalm 46:10 "Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth."
"The following summary, which appeared at the end of the century (19th), hardly indicates the existence of a depression:

The Biography of a River Town Memphis: Its Heroic Ageby Gerald M. Capers, Jr.
I started reading this book last week and it has alot of the history of Memphis from its beginnings thru the Second World War. The author did a reprint of this book after the public response was demanding of it. The author is well written about Memphis, even commenting about why the public demanded a reprint copy of the book. He responds with an epilogue about Boss Crump then directs his audience to the Encyclopedia Britannica's latest edition for his article about Memphis. Now the year was 1966 but I trust this author's research of the book I'm reading is right on with its accuracy.
So I've been gone from Memphis since Sunday morning and I'm beginning to miss the nostalgia of being there in the city. Memphis is like a metropolitan "hometown". It has that kind of feel to it. And it is close enough to my hometown just 2 hours away that I know I will enjoy my time being a resident of the city.
I'm tired and need to get to bed. Still trying to figure out my 4th of July plans. I'm bringing one of my best friends from McKenzie to Memphis for a couple of days. I'd like to go down to the river and watch the annual display of fireworks that the City of Memphis puts on. Mom has invited us to go with her and my stepfather to their Sunday School class's 4th of July cookout and watch Collierville's fireworks. That sounds nice and I know there will be lots of delicious food but I want to show Ms. Sunshine culture! I only remember one City of Memphis fireworks display and it was the year they lit up the bridge connecting Memphis and West Memphis, Arkansas. I was there for that! Exciting for a kid when all you remember at home is shooting bottle rockets in the levee and watching them explode underwater.
My hometown does a wonderful Freedom Festival nowadays and it is nice to be a part of watching the fireworks and enjoying the entertainment. I'm not sure what we are going to do for the 4th but it will no doubt involve food of some sort and watching firecrackers light up the night sky.
Please share with me what your 4th of July plans will be?
